Access

You must be an owner of hardware in the KU Community Cluster or be sponsored by an owner group within the cluster to gain access. There is no free partition of the cluster and we currenlty do not have a rate charge of core hours.

Pre-Requisites

  • KU Online ID
  • Owner Group Sponsorship

You must have a KU Online ID. If you are an external user, you must have a KU Staff or Faculty member request a Sponsored Temporary Account or an Affiliate account on your behalf. If requesting a STA, you will need KU Online ID and KU Anywhere (VPN) services.

KUMC Students, Faculty and Staff

KUMC students who need access to KU Lawrence systems and services (e.g., Canvas) can complete the KUMC Student Account Request form to request a KU Lawrence Online ID.

KUMC faculty and staff automatically receive KU Online IDs for Lawrence campus and do not need to complete the request form.

Requesting Access

  • Email Address: Will be automatically added to the CRC cluster email distribution list
  • Cluster: Choose which cluster is appropriate for your work and research group
  • Owner Group: Only needed for the KU Community Cluster and Hawk clusters. If you don't have an owner group, email crchelp@ku.edu and we can try to help you find one

Retaining Access

If you plan to graduate or leave KU and need to retain access to the cluster, you will need to ensure that you have a sponsor to request a STA or Affiliate status on your behalf.

Students

Once a student becomes inactive in the system, which could be 1 to 2 weeks after graduation, they will automatically be removed from all groups. When students go inactive, they have a 180 day grace period for which they retain their KU email account.

A KU Staff or Faculty member may request a Sponsored Temporary Account only after the student has been removed from all groups.

Staff/Faculty

Faculty and Staff will be removed from all groups once they become in inactive in the system. Faculty have the same 180 day grace period for email like students do. All other staff lose their access immediately upon being inactive in HR.

A KU Staff or Faculty member may request a Sponsored Temporary Account only after the staff or faculty member has been removed from all groups.
